Reality TV matriarch files for divorce from Olympian

A couple in the middle of a high-net worth divorce often faces more complex issues than people who are involved in more common types of divorces. Here in Saint Charles, Missouri, though, local residents may be familiar with divorce cases involving high-profile individuals with lucrative careers and significant assets. In such cases, there is much at stake. High-asset divorces often involve an array of properties and assets, ranging from artwork, cars, offshore accounts, business assets and bank accounts. Dividing those assets can become complicated without a prenuptial agreement or if either spouse decides not to cooperate during the divorce process.

Any residents with teenagers in the house may have overheard that Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner decided to end her marriage with former Olympian Bruce Jenner. The couple legally separated on June 1, 2013. Based on the report, 58-year-old Kris Jenner is willing to share custody of their 17-year-old child. However, court records state that Kris Jenner does not want to provide spousal support to Bruce Jenner.

As the divorce case unfolds, there are a lot of issues that may arise. Aside from child custody, the high-profile couple may also have to deal with complicated property division. The process of dividing property and assets often causes a divorce to become contentious. This can be prevented if both parties cooperate and are committed to being transparent. In high-profile divorces, all property and assets involved should be listed. After that, an independent appraiser may value the property and assets. How the assets are going to be divided depends on the state where the divorce case is being handled.

Missouri readers who are in the middle of a high-net worth divorce may want to exercise caution when discussing issues with their spouses. The other spouse may attempt to offer a settlement that is seemingly fair and just. With professional legal advice, spouses can ensure that they are making sound decisions during divorce.
