Same-sex marriage ruling offers protections for many employees

Last month in a landmark ruling, the United States Supreme Court ruled in favor of marriage equality for same-sex couples throughout the country. While the LGBT community has undoubtedly embraced this, it does mean that newly married same-sex couples should understand how this not only provides rights regarding marriage laws but also provides rights and protection in other areas as well, such as employment and divorce.
